The Gaming Giant Brings Onboard Apex Legends Producer to Revitalize Struggling Hero Shooter Ambitious Title

The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently developing the upcoming third-person action-packed title known as Project Ethos.

Management Shift Follows Mixed Feedback

The new appointee takes on the role of studio head at the development studio following the departure of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming early showing last fall.

Recently, 2K president David Ismailer updated employees about this organizational change through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had indicated the necessity for a clearer direction.

The president noted that the developers is now refining the project with a renewed vision, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.

Trend of Key Acquisitions

This announcement mirrors a similar step taken by the publisher in the summer, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise development group.

Below is the entire text from the president's communication:

Dear Team—

I understand you all just completed your meeting - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the recent updates. Previously I shared you all a update, I expressed the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most driven and creative creators we have had the chance to collaborate with - and we’re excited for that relationship to persist.”

Through your commitment and versatility, especially over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.

The gamer responses from last fall’s the game playtest was informative. It validated the potential of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had improvements to make. It revealed the requirement for a sharper vision.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You accepted the feedback to heart and reimagined Project ETHOS with a refreshed vision - one that’s positioned to deliver on its potential to our fans.

The trust in Project ETHOS grows every day. To further the incredible progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce the new hire as the new Studio Head of 31st Union. Following a period of talks, Ben officially joins us on next week.

Ben’s management and expertise in the PVP shooter field is vast, having spent the recent years developing and managing some of the most popular titles in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and lately, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in receiving Ben soon. We are all looking forward to continue witnessing the development of the game in the time to ahead.

David

Game Details and Concept

"Take on the competition with unique powers, stakes, and tests that evolve every session. Do you leave securely with your valuable rewards?
